Rep. Rosendale Votes To Repeal 2002 Iraq AUMF

Washington, D.C. - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal the 2002 Iraq Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF). The 2002 AUMF allowed the president to use U.S. military personnel as needed to defend against threats posed by Iraq and Iraq’s then-dictator Saddam Hussein. Representative Rosendale issued the following statement:

“After almost 20 years, we are finally beginning the process of ending the Iraq war for good,” Representative Rosendale said. “The United States should not be involved in endless wars, and we should not be sending our men and women in uniform into harm's way without specific goals to accomplish. The time is long overdue to repeal this law. I was proud to vote to end this forever war, and I’m glad Congress was able to pass this bipartisan bill.”
