Rep. Rosendale Votes To Ban Russian Energy Imports

Washington, D.C. - Tonight, the House of Representatives voted on and passed H.R. 6968, Suspending Energy Imports from Russia Act. This bill would ban Russian oil and gas imports from entering into the U.S., and ensure that the United States is no longer funding Vladimir Putin’s war machine in Eastern Europe.

“The United States imports hundreds of thousands of barrels of Russian oil daily. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. has been funding Putin’s war efforts, and it is high time to stop financing Russia’s quest to rebuild the Soviet Union,” said Representative Rosendale. “The U.S. can completely replace Russian oil by increasing domestic production. We must seek energy independence by harnessing the energy in our own backyard before we turn to other foreign adversaries for fossil fuels. The Biden administration has already considered expanding oil and gas imports from Iran and Venezuela, neglecting traditional domestic production. American energy means lower prices for consumers at home and greater energy security for us and our allies. I will continue to call on the Biden administration to end its war on America’s traditional energy resources and restore U.S. energy dominance.
