Washington, D.C. – Today, the Democrats decided to play political games with America’s veterans by combining several pieces of important legislation with bills unrelated to our heroes’ health and wellbeing under one vote. Legislation related to veterans’ healthcare and education was loaded down with irrelevant, nonsensical pork, including bills to rename a post office and to create a committee to “foster collaborative efforts” for pets in emergency situations. This is another example of the Left abusing its power in Congress to push their agenda at our veterans’ expense. The purpose of government is to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used efficiently; mixing completely unrelated pieces of legislation is selfish, reckless, and hurts the American people.

“It is appalling to see the Left use America’s heroes as pawns for their political games. Instead of taking care of those who have put their lives on the line to protect and defend our freedoms, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle choose to use them for their political benefit,” said Representative Rosendale. “We are doing the American people a disservice by not properly executing our responsibilities as members of Congress. It is inexcusable for members to use their political office to advance an agenda counterproductive to the wellbeing of the American people, and actions like this are the reasons Americans are losing faith in our once sacred institutions. We owe it to our veterans to ensure that we are providing timely and efficient resources to them that will benefit their health and wellbeing. America’s heroes deserve better."
