REP. ROSENDALE APPLAUDS MONTANA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE ON UPHOLDING BEST RANGE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

| Posted in Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Matt Rosendale is proud to see the State of Montana, under Governor Greg Gianforte’s leadership, protect Montana ranchers. On October 27th, the State of Montana notified American Prairie that they are not currently authorized to graze bison on two state allotments. American Prairie will be required by November 17th, to detail how they will prevent bison grazing in these areas. The Governor’s decision to protect ranching and reject the Biden Administration’s radical environmentalist agenda is welcome news for Montanans. This decision from the Governor’s office comes on the heels of a recent Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) decision to deny petitions of stay filed on behalf of Montana stakeholders, including the Governor’s office and the Montana Attorney General. Last week, Congressman Rosendale sent a letter to BLM and OHA demanding that they reverse their decision denying the petitions of stay.

Rosendale Urges Reversal on Grazing & Land Allotment Decision

| Posted in Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale sent a letter demanding that the Montana Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) reverse their position on livestock grazing on land allotments in Montana. The decision ignores 90 years of best range management practices and current federal law. The letter was sent to Judge Veronica Larvie, Administrative Judge for the Department of Interior’s Office of Hearings and Appeals, and Tracy Stone Manning, Director of the Bureau of Land Management. At the helm at BLM, Ms. Manning has repeatedly succumbed to extremist environmental groups and ignored livestock grazing laws as outlined in the Taylor Grazing Act. Judge Larvie’s decision to deny the petition of stay is an unfortunate rejection of the legitimate interests of Montana ranchers. Allowing bison to graze on allotments that should be leased for cattle grazing is a blow to Montana’s ranching industry and threatens the longstanding relationship between ranchers and public lands management.
