Rep. Rosendale Votes to Hold Merrick Garland in Inherent Contempt of Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement after his vote to hold Attorney General of the United States Merrick Garland in Inherent Contempt of Congress for his refusal to comply with a congressional subpoena and failure to release the full audio recording of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview of President Biden.

“We are witnessing a dangerous time in our nation’s history where Biden administration officials like AG Merrick Garland are demonstrating a complete and intentional disregard for the rule of law,” said Rep. Rosendale. “We have all seen the depositions from Hur’s interview with Biden and know the only reason the tapes are being withheld is to protect the evidence of decline in Biden’s cognitive ability. While I was proud to vote in favor of this effort to hold Merrick Garland accountable, it did not pass, allowing Garland to continue to evade our congressional subpoena. It is disappointing that the American people will continue to have valuable information about their leader’s mental acuity withheld from them.”
