Rep. Rosendale Releases Statement On Speaker Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement ahead of the election for Speaker. After serving in Congress with both candidates for nearly three years, listening to them over the last few days, and giving this careful consideration, I voted to support Jim Jordan for Speaker in our Conference meeting today,” said Rep. Rosendale. “I have had the chance to work with Jim, and he has stood beside me during many battles to preserve our Republic.”

During the election in Conference, a majority of my colleagues voted for Steve Scalise, and I intend on supporting him when the vote comes to the Floor. I have had the pleasure of working with Steve, and while we may disagree on certain things, I do believe Steve will be able to unite the Conference. And I intend on helping Steve so we can secure the border, lower energy costs, cut spending by delivering the remaining appropriations bills, and do the work the American people elected a Republican majority to do. More importantly, I trust Rep. Scalise to work with the Conference and not undermine the Republican agenda by making backroom deals with Hakeem Jeffries and Joe Biden.”
