Rep. Rosendale Releases Update on Speaker Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement regarding the election for Speaker.

"Earlier this week, the Republican Conference nominated Steve Scalise as Speaker,” said Rep. Rosendale. “While I was intending on supporting Steve on the Floor, he withdrew his name from consideration last nightThis afternoon, the Republican Conference nominated Jim Jordan as Speaker, and I was proud to vote for him along with the majority of my colleagues. Jim has secured the majority of the Conference, and I fully intend to support him on the Floor.

However, I am disappointed that my colleagues have decided to adjourn for the weekend. It is critically important for the House to seat the Speaker as soon as possible so we can pass the remaining appropriations bills to fund government responsibly and transparently before the November funding deadline.”
