WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) applauded the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for appointing Duane Gill as the Executive Director for the Montana VA Health Care System.
This announcement comes after a comprehensive review of the Montana VA Health Care System, initiated by Rep. Rosendale, called on VA Sec. Dennis McDonough to conduct a thorough investigation after receiving reports of mismanagement at the Fort Harrison Medical Center. Following this investigation, the VA determined that a change in leadership was necessary to provide proper care for Montana veterans.
“After my office was contacted by constituents and several people within the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center regarding medical practice and hiring practices, I demanded Sec. McDonough conduct an investigation,” said Rep. Rosendale. “During its investigation, the VA uncovered a multitude of infractions and problematic practices reaching all the way to the top of the Montana VA Healthcare System. I was pleased by the VA’s decision to implement a change in leadership at the Montana VA.”
“Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction, and I look forward to working with Director Gill to ensure our veterans receive the care they earned. The core function of the VA is to care for the nation’s heroes. As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I will continue my vigorous oversight to ensure Montana veterans receive the best health care possible.”
