WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) voted in favor of H.R. 8998 - Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025 which passed House this evening.

The legislation secures major wins for Montana, cuts a fifth of the EPA’s budget and prohibits taxpayer dollars from going to DEI programs.

Rep. Rosendale released the following statement on the legislation:

“Unlike the majority of the other appropriations bills to hit the House floor, this package is one of the few that actually makes spending cuts instead of adding to our crippling national debt. The legislation included a necessary fix to the disastrous Cottonwood decision making logging easier; eliminates the Landscape Health Conservation rule that locks up land that should be used for outdoor recreation, grazing, timber, and energy development; and eliminates the Resource Management Plan Amendment prohibiting future coal leases in Eastern Montana through 2038. While all of this is a good start, the next appropriations bills must follow suit if we expect to save American taxpayers any money during Fiscal Year 2025.”
