WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, the House of Representatives is debating the Fiscal Year 2024 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) filed the following amendments: Amendment 14, Amendment 15, Amendment 67, and Amendment 70. “The core function of the VA is to care for our nation’s heroes,” Rep. Rosendale said. “It is unacceptable for the Biden Administration to continue to use our veterans to promote their leftist agenda, which is why I am proud to introduce these amendments and ensure our veterans receive the care they deserve.” Amendment 14 would prohibit the use of funds made available by this legislation from enforcing any COVID-19 mask mandates. Amendment 15 would reduce funding for the Veterans Electronic Health Record by $5 million and advocate increased funding for the Grants for Construction of State Extended Care Facilities by $5 million. The increase in funds for the Grants for Construction of State Extended Care Facilities could go to the Southwest Montana Veterans’ Home in Butte. Amendment 67 would prohibit the use of funds made available by this legislation from promoting any adult cabaret performances or LGBTQ events. Amendment 70 would prohibit the use of funds made available by this legislation from being used to send employees or resources to the southern border between the United States and Mexico for the purpose of providing healthcare or other services to illegal immigrants. |
