Rep. Rosendale Opposes All Short-Term Funding Gimmicks

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement on a potential Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government before the September 30th funding deadline.

“For far too long, Washington has been kicking the can down the road when it comes to ending their reckless spending spree, and once again, the DC Cartel is proposing a deal to continue putting us on a path toward fiscal irresponsibility,” said Rep. Rosendale.

“I CANNOT vote for a funding measure that would extend spending to levels that I voted AGAINST and support policies that I voted AGAINST. Earlier this year, we fought for regular order and the appropriations process to begin scaling back funding for Biden’s Alphabet Agencies – FBI, ATF, IRS, DOJ – that have all been weaponized against the American people. We fought for the appropriations process so we could put an end to the Left’s Green New Deal agenda. We fought for the appropriations process so we could put an end to the Left’s social experiment being forced on our military.”

“Passing a CR sets the table for the DC Cartel to pass another pork-filled omnibus benefiting the swamp creatures, not the taxpayer. The American people elected a Republican majority to cut inflation, reduce rising energy costs, and secure our southern border. They did not elect a Republican majority to continue business as usual. If leadership fails to allow the House to pass the 12 appropriations bills and instead chooses to use a CR and an omnibus to fund the government, there is no difference between Speaker McCarthy and Speaker Pelosi. It is UNACCEPTABLE and frankly OFFENSIVE to the American people to allow Congress to continue on this path toward financial ruin, which is why I will be voting no on any kind of CR.”
