Rep. Rosendale Releases Statement Opposing D.C. Cartel Funding Schemes

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement regarding the upcoming deadline of September 30th for federal funding.

“In January, I fought hard for regular order to be restored to Congress,” said Rep. Rosendale.“Part of that fight was resolved when Kevin McCarthy promised to stop kicking the can down the road and develop the 12 appropriations bills, and bring non-defense discretionary spending levels down to $1.47 trillion or less to put us on a path toward fiscal responsibility.”

“Leadership has had the past eight months to prioritize developing the appropriations bills; however, we have yet to see the total value of these 12 bills. Moreover, the D.C. Cartel is yearning to revert to business as usual by trying to pass a continuing resolution which continues spending and policies passed by Nancy Pelosi that I have voted against for two years. Additionally, this sets the table for Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell to send the House a pork-filled omnibus in December.”

“It is offensive to the American people for Congress to leave Washington for six weeks, only to return and say we don’t have enough time to do our job properly.”

“The people of Montana did not send me to Washington to conduct business as usual and allow the D.C. Cartel to continue this March toward financial ruin. They sent me to Washington to cut spending and begin to reign in Biden’s Alphabet Agencies that have been weaponized against the American people. Which is why I will not begin voting for SOME Appropriation bills in hopes that savings will be made in LATER bills. I also CANNOT vote for a continuing resolution that would fund government under Pelosi’s budget and continue Biden’s policies.”

“If Leadership dismisses the promise to restore regular order to Congress by bringing a continuing resolution to the floor, there is no difference between Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”
