In Case You Missed it: Representative Rosendale and Senators Tester and Daines Tour Fort Harrison with VA Secretary

Washington, DC -- This week, Representative Rosendale visited the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center with Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough and Senators Tester and Daines. They toured facilities, held meetings with senior leadership and veteran stakeholders, and visited with veterans, VA employees, and local health care providers.

“I’m always happy to highlight Montana’s success in providing innovative resources to better serve Montana veterans. As the Ranking member of the Veterans Affairs House Subcommittee on Technology Modernization, I as well as the rest of the Montana delegation am working diligently to ensure veterans get the care they deserve.” Representative Rosendale said.

The Fort Harrison VA Medical Center is unique in that it features a $12 million state-of-the-art primary care clinic built to serve 5,000 veterans. The 20,000-square-foot clinic is designed around the VA’s integrated PACT (Patient Aligned Care Team) model. The PACT model enables a team of health professionals to work collaboratively with the patient to provide for all their healthcare needs. By placing a single PACT team in the same space, VA officials can bring in other health care services, such as social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, mental health practitioners and others — even if these services were not scheduled for that particular appointment.

In addition to the PACT team, the facility also incorporated dedicated space for group activities, along with technological improvements such as business Wi-Fi.

After the tour of Fort Harrison, Representative Rosendale participated in a roundtable with local veteran organizations and local government officials. There he worked to stress the importance of VA electronic records update and the need to make sure the system is ready before it is rolled out nationwide. Currently the program is well over budget and is failing to produce the level of service our veterans deserve.
