Rep. Rosendale Grills VA Bureaucrats Targeting Veterans Second Amendment Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) joined the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs legislative hearing.

Rep. Rosendale questioned an official from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Benefits Administration Deputy Director of Pension & Fiduciary, Mr. Kevin Friel, who repeatedly admitted the Department of Veterans Affairs would not comply with the law if the Veterans 2nd Amendment Rights Restoration Act  was enacted.

Rep. Rosendale:
Is it your position that the Department of Veterans Affairs will not comply with an act of law passed by Congress?

Mr. Kevin Friel: Yes sir. I guess. Based off what you have in the testimony, yes sir.

Rep. Rosendale: That you would not comply?

Mr. Kevin Friel: Yes, sir.

Rep. Rosendale: Well, I'm glad everybody hears that on the record—that the VA is going to refuse to comply regardless of what we actually pass here... I think that Mr. Friel has incriminated himself and the VA, that they're going to have complete disregard for what we're going to do anyway. I yield back.

Chairman Luttrell: Mr. Friel, you're very well aware of how you just answered the Congressman's questions, correct?

Mr. Kevin Friel: As I said it is in our testimony that we would "have trouble complying" with that law.

Chairman Luttrell: Mr. Friel, you're very well aware of how you answered the Congressman's question?

Mr. Kevin Friel: Yes, sir.
